Comprehensive Pump Vibration Isolation System

To reduce the vibration of a pump, it is necessary to consider the vibration-proof pedestal, the rubber flexible joints, and the fixing support of piping with flexible joints, as one system.
The vibration generated by equipment such as a pump is caused by the vibration of the pump body and pulsation due to pressure fluctuation inside the pipe.

The vibration caused by the machine body can be isolated using the vibration-proof pedestal and the rubber flexible joints. However, because the passing fluid will generate new vibration in the whole piping due to pulsation of the fluid and at the elbow, tees, and valve, the horizontal and perpendicular piping should be supported with vibration isolation, appropriate to the conditions.
We believe that it is necessary to take comprehensive and balanced measures in consideration of the use of the building or room, the capacity of the piping, and the installation location. Figures 1 and 2 are examples of a vibration isolation system for a pump installation.

We also believe that safety measures taking into consideration quake resistance to safeguard the integrity of the system against seismic force is required.

Vibration isolators (e.g. springs, vibration-proof rubber, suspension hangers, and vibration-proof joints) are functional materials. If they are used beyond the range of specification such as supporting load, pressure, and temperature, they will not function as required. Please be sure to comply with the specifications when you install them.
